Robin Goodfellow (Puck)

I was adopted by the Sawyer family in May of 2000 when my mom saw me on television as the featured adoptable Pet of the Week for the Animal Relief Foundation (ARF). I was so cute my new mom fell in love with me immediately. She arranged for me to visit on a Sunday and to meet my dad. I was pretty young and small but I tried to make the best impression I could. I didnt bark and I played with a tennis ball and showed what a great addition to the famliy I would make. Mom and Dad were planning to leave for a holiday weekend and asked if I could stay with my advocate Karen until we returned. I was so happy as it looked like I was going to get a new family. Upon returning home from their trip they arranged to pick me up and I became the newest member of the Sawyer family.

My story is kind of a sad one to begin with. As the information goes, I was a friend to a homeless gentleman who walked and followed the railroad tracks. One day as he made his way through a small town in northeastern Nevada he made his way to the Elko Police Department. He told everyone that he just couldn't take care of me any more and that he wanted to leave me there so that I might get a better home. I was just a puppy and didn't understand what was going on. As he left me at the counter and tried to say goodbye, he began to cry because he cared about me. That upset me and I began to cry and then crying broke out among everybody in the office. It was a very sad time for me.

I was taken to an animal advocate at the Animal Relief Foundation (ARF). Karen took me to her house to take care of me and start the task of finding me a new family. And luckily for mom and day (and me of course), it didn't take long.

Isabelle Puddinchops (Izzie)

I was adopted by the Sawyer family in October of 2002. I had been at the Elko Animal Shelter for some time and had actually been adopted two previous times. On one occassion one family brought me back because I was too "energetic" for them. My new mom had come to see me and fell in love with me. On a return trip she brought my new big brrother and my new dad. They took me for a walk and let me get to know Puck to see if we would get along together ok. They went back into the shelter and said they wanted to adopt me but another family was ahead of them and they would have to wait a week to see if they showed up to take me away.

We all anxiously waited to see what would play out. On the very last day, the other family showed up at the shelter and took me away. Though I didn't know it at the time my mom and dad were really sad because they really had fallen in love with me.

Thinking they had lost me, mom and dad went about dejectiedly for several days. Then when they least expected it, the Elko Animal Shelter called and said I was back! They told the shelter to keep a fast hold of me and in several minutes mom, dad and my brother Puck were down at the shelter signing all the papers for me. Soon after I was sniffing and exploring my new home where I have been now for almost half a year!
